With Dimensions CM, you have the choice. You can organize your projects based on a traditional, physical structure, or you can organize them logically with our Design Parts feature. Logical organization is great for component based development since it facilitates code sharing and reuse by sharing a Design Part across projects. It also enables more granular role-based authorization. Your outsourced vendor will have complete access to the parts they are responsible, but not other parts of the project.
Baselining
The flexible baselining capability in Dimensions CM makes parallel releases easier to manage as each feature or patch release can be tracked by a baseline. You get complete visibility into every change, whether it was made by a developer across the hall, or a outsourced vendor across the continent.
You can baseline a project, a set of its components, or a set of files (code, documents, test scripts). Additionally, you can baseline any asset based on a set of criteria or filters. For example, you can baseline files that have been reviewed.
Plus, you can modify an existing baseline, compare two baselines, and merge two baselines into one.
