The Design and Modeling tool for Serena Business Mashups is Mashup Composer. Mashup Composer allows you to bring together all the components of your business process: Workflow, Data, User Roles, User Forms and System Interactions.
Workflow
A workflow is created by dragging and dropping states on the workflow palette, then connecting the states by dragging transitions between them. For each state in the workflow, you can identify which user role is responsible for each step in the process. For each transition, you can specify what data must be collected prior to moving to the next state. This means your process is completely enforceable and each participant in the process can be held accountable.

Data
Data design is also quick and easy. There is no need to go anywhere near a database schema; just drag and drop text, date, drop-down, numeric and other types of data from the palette into your table. You can provide default values for any field or create dependencies between drop-down fields to adjust their value sets. This gives you the ability to automate data collection, resulting in fewer input errors and less user frustration.

Security
Design your security model by assigning privilege sets to user roles. Mashup Composer provides you with a robust set of fine-grained privileges that allow you to tailor access to each and every part of the process and its artifacts for any user.

User Forms
Mashup Composer gives you the ability to design custom forms for each state and transition in the process, allowing you to create interfaces that are efficient and easy to use.

System Interactions
Designing or coordinating system interactions doesn?t require writing code. Mashup Composer provides a drag and drop interface to design system interactions using your business logic coupled with web service calls.
