Marquardt Innovates With Serena Software
"Our customers requested greater collaboration, transparency and quality in our development processes. We were able to give that to them through Dimensions CM."
—Karl-Heinz Gumhold, Head of Engineering Systems, Marquardt
The mid-90’s saw the integration of software with electronic appliances, opening literal and theoretical doors to new possibilities. In the automotive world, that meant that innovative manufacturers such as Daimler, BMW, VW and Audi could create what were then considered luxury conveniences such as remote key fobs. Marquardt embraced this opportunity.
A key component of Marquardt's success is the ability to orchestrate their business policies and enforce uniform adoption across the organization. Their strategic platform of choice, Serena Dimensions CM manages these processes across locations, including integrations connecting the software and hardware development processes. When customers such as Daimler (another Serena customer) began requesting more collaboration, transparency and quality in the development process, Dimensions CM helped Marquardt to meet their needs.
Lexmark creates 70% increase in efficiency within first week of TeamTrack deployment
Lexmark, a leading printer manufacturer, had strict requirements during its search for a new problem-tracking system. The ability to run on multiple operating systems, meet tough security measures, and provide an intuitive web-based interface was needed.
After a lengthy search, the Serena® TeamTrack® process management application emerged as the best option. Representing 62-percent less cost than other proposed systems, TeamTrack was up and running in 30 days and helped Lexmark realize a 70-percent increase in efficiency in the first week of deployment. Companywide training was completed in three days and the intuitive, browser-based interface has proven smart and easy to use. Highly configurable, TeamTrack allowed Lexmark to retain the fields and parameters of the old system that still made sense, and easily achieve tough security requirements.
F-35 Lightning II Flies High with Lockheed Martin and Serena Dimensions
Lockheed Martin has the task of delivering 19 million lines of code needed to support Joint Strike Fighter program’s F-35 Lightening 11 aircraft, a project that will require 10 years of work by more than 1,000 developers from many companies in nine countries. The project requires a robust process management solution to enable collaboration in the distributed group environment, while keeping the project within exact specifications and meeting International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
To meet these challenges, Lockheed Martin deployed Serena Dimensions™. Dimensions enables the JSF team to track and enforce several hundred processes in software development and production change management. Among the biggest benefits Dimensions provides is enforcement of critical processes, saving time and eliminating the costs required for oversight of manual processes. In addition, Dimensions delivers the reporting, auditing, security and ease of use that are essential to Lockheed in supporting their highly distributed developer base.
