Latin America's Largest Bank Signs Multi-million Dollar Deal with Serena Software for Global Application Lifecycle Management
BBVA Improves Business Efficiency by Standardizing on Serena Software for Mainframe and Distributed Environments
SAN MATEO, Calif. — December 10, 2007 — Serena Software today announced that Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), serving over 44 million customers in 32 countries, has standardized on Serena Software across all of its global operations for mainframe and distributed development and global business process management. By establishing Serena Software as a global vendor for application lifecycle management, BBVA is standardizing business processes, eliminating redundancies, and streamlining application development—companywide—to improve business performance.
"We now have one company standard for integrated application lifecycle management: Serena Software," said Javier Ortiz Vińuales, director general de tecnología, BBVA. "We wanted to reduce the costs and complexities associated with managing multiple vendors and business processes for application lifecycle management. Serena is a company that offers an integrated solution for both mainframe and distributed environments."
The global agreement spans BBVA's application development sites in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain, and Venezuela.
A Serena Software customer since 1997, BBVA previously standardized on Serena® ChangeMan® ZMF for the mainframe, enforcing software development processes for improved quality and efficiency. "Our ChangeMan ZMF implementation was very successful. It demonstrated the value of establishing a corporate standard for application lifecycle management. It also showed that Serena has the best technology on the market," said Vińuales. BBVA is deploying Serena® Dimensions® 10 to integrate business requirements with configuration management, as well as Serena’s newly announced Business Mashups offering to enable tech-savvy business people to build, deploy and manage applications and to synchronize global application development among IT teams.
"To survive in today's highly competitive global economy, leading companies like BBVA recognize that IT must continually drive innovation and value to the business," said René Bonvanie, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, partner programs, and online services, Serena Software. "With this global agreement, BBVA has made a strong statement about Serena Software's leadership position in the market, and is poised to reap the benefits of breakthrough solutions that will change the face of application development forever."
