Serena Dimensions Named a Strong Performer in Independent Software Change and Configuration Management Report

Serena Dimensions is the Most Full-Featured SCCM Solution Overall; Greatest Strengths are Platform Support, Security, and Integration

SAN MATEO, Calif. — June 6, 2007 — A new, independent research report named Serena® Dimensions® as a Strong Performer in software change and configuration management (SCCM). “The Forrester Wave™: Software Change and Configuration Management, Q2 2007,” May 2007, examined Serena Software’s current SCCM offerings, strategy, and market presence. Serena Dimensions earned the highest score for Current Offering.

Software change and configuration management solutions permit IT organizations to manage the changes that they make to software during development and maintenance.

The Forrester report by Carey Schwaber found that “Serena Dimensions CM has changed more than any other SCCM solution since our 2005 evaluation, now boasting a single repository; a better install process; completely new Eclipse, Visual Studio, and Windows Explorer clients; and new dashboards.”[1] Forrester also found that “Serena supports more integrations than many other vendors between its product and relevant categories of tools like integrated development environments (IDEs), service desk applications, and portfolio management tools.”[2]

“Businesses are once again calling on IT to innovate, build new applications, and differentiate themselves in the marketplace,” said Jeremy Burton, Serena president and CEO. “Serena’s recognition as a strong performer in SCCM underscores our strategy to help application development groups consolidate, standardize, and automate the processes surrounding the application lifecycle so they can produce more functionality, more quickly without compromising quality.”

To extend its leadership in providing application lifecycle management for distributed and mainframe systems, Serena recently announced Serena Mariner™, the industry’s first solution to integrate Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) into a single Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) offering. By integrating Mariner with Serena Dimensions and Serena TeamTrack®, IT executives can make better decisions and manage their application portfolio like a business – from initial project proposal to application retirement.
