Serena Awarded GSA Schedule ContractLatest in Series of Activities to Strengthen Company's ECM Solution Government Offering, immixGroup to Maintain GSA ContractSan Mateo, CA – March 31, 2003 - SERENA Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRNA), an industry-leading supplier of software that automates change to enterprise code and content, today announced that it has been awarded a GSA Schedule Contract. The contract enables Serena to be listed on an approved GSA IT Schedule and sell its Enterprise Change Management (ECM) solutions directly to the government market. Earlier this year, Serena announced plans to expand and strengthen its government channel, recognizing this vertical market as a key factor for achieving long-term growth. immixGroup, Inc., a government business consulting firm, assisted Serena in securing its GSA Schedule Contract and will continue to maintain the contract to ensure that it remains current. "It is far more critical in government organizations than in any other to safeguard software assets and to secure the availability and reliability of mission-critical applications," said Steve Charles, Executive Vice President at immixGroup, Inc. "Serena provides industrial-strength solutions that have definite validity and hold real value in the government marketplace. Government customers will also be very receptive to the fact that they can now implement a single, integrated ECM solution from one vendor." With the level of uncertainty and heightened cautiousness that is prevalent in the current economic climate, there is increasing pressure on government organizations to ensure IT operations run seamlessly and prevent rogue application changes and potential downtime from occurring. Serena provides a robust ECM solution that enforces processes throughout the development lifecycle, yet is flexible enough to integrate into and support the existing environment. By implementing a complete ECM solution rather than piecing together several independent change management products, government customers can ensure a more efficient, integrated enterprise. Further, Serena's inclusion as a GSA Schedule Contractor allows government customers to obtain special and approved pricing and license terms from a trusted vendor. Securing a GSA Schedule Contract is just the most recent activity in Serena's overall effort to strengthen its government ECM solution offering and provide better services to government customers. Additionally, Serena is continuing to build relationships with key System Integrators (SIs) that have expertise and established partnerships with government organizations. This will enable the company to increase its leverage in prospective government accounts and improve its stronghold in the government market. Also, earlier this year, Serena announced its Serena Alliance Partner Program (APP), an extension of its existing partner program. In launching the Serena APP, Serena ramped up its efforts in the government sector and designated a specific business unit within the company solely dedicated to serving government customers. "Receiving a GSA Schedule Contract is a great accomplishment which we believe will help us considerably in securing new market opportunities and strengthening our government channel," said Evan Ellis, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, SERENA Software, Inc. "The government market remains an important one to Serena, and we will continue to dedicate significant resources to supporting the needs of our government customers."About Serena About immixGroup
